You should be able to see some hitting this Saturday
If you want to see some hitting, this Saturday should be the day for that. Here's the news taken from the TeamUSA news. - Coach Andy Collins SURREY, B.C. – It was a hitting rally for the U.S. Women’s National Softball team as they opened the 2003 season with a 14-0 stomping over Canada. Totaling 17 hits, the defending 2002 World Championship roster blanked the Canadians in five innings due to the International Softball Federation 10-run mercy rule.The game was broadcast by CBC television and will be aired Saturday, June 21 at 12 noon Pacific time.
Here are the members of the team which you'll see hitting: Only six members of the gold medal team from the 2000 Olympic Games remain for the World Championship - Leah O'Brien-Amico, Chino Hills, CA; Laura Berg, Santa Fe Springs, CA; Crystl Bustos, Canyon Country, CA; Lisa Fernandez, Long Beach, CA; Lori Harrigan, Las Vegas, NV and Stacey Nuveman, La Verne, CA.
The Pan Am roster also includes, Jaime Clark, Tustin, CA; Jennie Finch, La Mirada, CA; Amanda Freed, Cypress, CA; Nicole Giordano, Saugus, CA; Keira Goerl, Moreno Valley, CA; Lovie Jung, Fountain Valley, CA; Nina Lindenberg, Anaheim Hills, CA; Jessica Mendoza, Camarillo, CA; Tairia Mims, Tucson, AZ; Cat Osterman, Houston, TX; Jenny Topping, Whittier, CA and Natasha Watley, Irvine, CA. For those of you from Ventura County, note that Jessica Mendoza played for Camarillo High School and on the US Elite Team (think of this as the "B" all-star team) is Mackensie Vandergeest, who played for La Reina.
Up next the Women’s National team will head to Honolulu, Hawaii as they host the U.S. Cup, June 19-22. Beginning play on Thursday, June 19 at 4:30 p.m. with the U.S. vs Greece, the tournament consists of round robin play followed by two playoff games on Sunday, June 22. Participating teams include USA, Greece, Chinese Taipei and Canada.
