Coach Andy's Hitting E-zine, #35 - Perfect Swing
December 18, 2006
Hi

Do you have the Perfect Swing?

This newsletter is about practicing the perfect swing. This can work for baseball, fastpitch or slo-pitch softball.

I have a number of students that come needing the basics. For them I just start them out with the mechanics of the swing.

But a number of you are beyond that and have been playing and working on the basics for years now.

So when I get a student like that, what I challenge them to do is to deliver a perfect swing, off a ball on the tee, placed exactly where they'd like it.

What am I doing by doing this?

When you get good, and it's easier to do this in slo-pitch, you should be able to take the pitch you want and deliver the perfect swing to get the ball to go where you want it to go.

If you can't do that 8 - 9 times out of 10, then why are we concentrating on all the new and fancy stuff, worrying about whether we have the right bat or not, etc.

Make that your goal. Being able to hit the ball where you want it, with the swing you want to deliver, when you get the pitch right where you want it.

From the tee, you have two directions you can go. As you get better on that one pitch location, then shift it to practicing on hitting the ball perfectly in other pitch locations or maybe move from the tee to toss in the same location and see if you can still give the perfect swing.

Then see if you can hit the ball perfectly when it's pitched.

I wanted to make this e-mail newsletter today, promotion free, just content. This tip is taken from what I've observed from the students that are coming to me.

It seems to cut across all the games and all levels. Practice hitting the ball perfectly with a perfect swing. That's it, sweet and simple.

I will be sending another e-mail that will have my last minute holiday specials. I've never done discounts like this, so I'm sure you'll want to open that as soon as you receive that, but if you've had enough of that kind of e-mails, just ignore the next one and the one in January will be about getting ready for the upcoming season and focusing on goals. But aren't you at least a little bit curious if there isn't something that you'd really like :)

Again, if you have any questions or comments you can write to me via e-mail.

Welcome to you who are new to my hitting e-zine.

Thanks for reading and talk to you next time.
